About Me

Hi! I'm Jess (Jessica if you're feeling formal, but honestly Jess is fine). I got into floral design in 2022 and it truly changed me. I've always been a creative person, and floral are the perfect medium! Random fact about me: in college I was in the Bees and Beekeeping club, and I'd sign up for entomology electives whenever I could fit them in.That's actually where the name Aster & Bee comes from- it felt like the perfect mashup of the two things I love. Outside of flowers, mental health advocacy is a huge part of who I am. I'm currently VP on the Board of Directors for the Center for Sexual Assault Survivors in Newport News, and earlier this year I stepped in as executive director for a while when they needed someone. Before I started this business, I spent a couple years volunteering as a crisis counselor on a text line- talking people through some of their hardest moments. That work shaped how I show up in my business now. Oh, and I have six cats. Six. I don't really have an explanation for that one. I'm based in Williamsburg, but I travel all across Virginia for weddings- so building more of those relationships across the state is something I'm actively working on!

Aster & Bee is a full-service floral design studio for weddings across Virginia. To me, floristry is an art form. It's a chance to shape the whole environment of your wedding day- every vase, every handheld bouquet, every big dreamy installation working together to create something that actually feels like you. From the first concept conversation all the way through installation day, I focus on sustainable sourcing and custom choices that mean something, not just what's trending. Every design I create features elegant, editorial florals that tell a story- your story. The type of flower, the colors, the textures- none of it is random. I dig into what actually means something to you and build from there, so every bloom carries a little bit of sentiment. My flowers are often locally sourced, always hand-selected, and meant to feel completely immersive, not just decorative.
